November Message from the President

Greetings all!

Welcome to our newest members: Kevin Felice & Nora Lee, and Paul Cianfaglione.  We're happy to have you !

If you weren't at our meeting this month you missed a talk given by Kim Feddersen of Fair Orchids on slipper orchids, mainly the two major groups in Cypripediums - Paphiopedilums and Phragmipediums. 

One of our members who recently purchased a Paph found a mealy bug on the plant that evening.  As most of us know they can pop up unannounced, so to be safe please carefully inspect any plants you may have purchased at the meeting and let me know if you encounter any unfriendlies.  Please contact  the seller directly as well. As a general practice it is always wise to initially separate any new plants from your collection for this very reason.

The Holiday Party is next month!   How can it be November already?????  

I will be sending out the Evite email shortly with the party details.  This year, to avoid multiple emails going to the same household, I'm only sending to one email address per family membership.  Hopefully this will simplify responses since you'll be able to respond once for the family with total number planning to attend.   It is important to respond so we have an accurate headcount when ordering food.
